I love the church. But I began having suspicions about what is taught in most churches about Bible prophecy. As documented in this book, the most persistent challenge by skeptics hostile to the Bible and Christianity is that Jesus did not return when He promised- /5(41). In the balance of this discussion I simply want to conclusively show that the signs of Matthew could not find their fulfillment in the final return of Christ. There are four strong arguments that prove the signs of Matthew ff relate to the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. This generation shall not .
The New Testament speaks of the soon coming of Christ (in the first century, when the New Testament was written), and links - certainly on the Olivet discourse and possibly in other places - it with the destruction of Jerusalem. How are we to explain the fact the Jesus did not return in AD 70 at the destruction of Jerusalem? Explanation #/5(). Hence, since the book was written after A.D. 70, it could hardly have been referring to events that would be fulfilled in A.D. Against preterism, futurists note that key events described in the book of Revelation simply did not occur in A.D. For example, in A.D. 70 “a third of mankind” was not killed, as predicted in Revelation
Thus we are told by the Lord that the great tribulation occurs immediately prior to His return, not in 70 A.D. nearly years before His return. This harmonizes with the book of Revelation which presents the tribulation in chapters and the return of Christ in chapter All right, now I made mention of Acts chapter Here we have the record of the Jerusalem Council. And I think, according to some of the ancient writers, this was in A.D. Now get your numbers – Christ was crucified in A.D. I feel that the Apostle Paul was converted in A.D. He began his ministry in A.D.

This also means we should not believe some report that Jesus returned in 70 AD. The destruction of the Jewish temple in 70 AD was a fulfilment of one prophecy, but 70 AD is not some kind of amazing key to understanding all end-times events.
One of the false teachings that Paul had to combat was the claim that the resurrection had already taken. John Young, in his book, Jesus Did Not Return in A.D.
70, published by Vantage Press,p concludes, "Considering the uncomplimentary things Jesus said in Matthew 23 about the Jewish leaders, Matthew could have been translated: 'Truly I say to you, this KIND [instead of generation] will not pass away until all these things take.
Did Jesus come in 70 AD. Jesus told us that we cannot know the day of his return but we do know where He will return, and how He will return. These events that will surround His second coming are prophesied in both the Old and New Testament.
The Preterists position is that they know when and how he already returned - in 70 AD. However, critics say, while Rome destroyed Jerusalem and its temple in 70 a.d., Jesus did not return, and thus He was proved to be mistaken.
Yet Old JESUS DID NOT RETURN IN A.D. 70 book imagery helps us see that the Olivet Discourse did come true. Jesus likely used His “coming on the clouds” as a figurative image of God’s judgment, just as the prophets did (see Isa.
While the A.D. 70 doctrine says the resurrection is past already (having occurred in 70 A.D.), this passage decisively refutes that claim.
To the Realized Eschatologist, the primary meaning of 1 Corinthians 15 is the resurrection of Christianity out of Judaism, not the resurrection of mankind at the personal return of Jesus Christ.
pt.4 Did Jesus return in 70 AD as Preterists claim. It is ABSOLUTELY necessary for the Millennium to be a literal fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies. These promises relate to the Messiahs birth, history and the nation of Israel, it is impossible to have fulfillment of these Scriptures other than literal.
THE TEMPLE DESTROYED, 70 A.D. The fulfillment of Christ's prophecy concerning the destruction of the magnificent temple at Jerusalem not only reveals the year of Christ's crucifixion, but also ended one phase of God's plan for the salvation of humanity and ushered in the next phase—Christ's return to conquer and rule the earth.
Jesus did not return for his disciples, nor at anytime since. We can therefore only assume that Jesus made a false prophecy, and he will not be returning for his Church at any time. By the time that the book called II Peter came to be written, the apostolic fathers had all died, and Jesus' return.
So, when Jesus said He did not know when He would return, He was actively humbling Himself and taking the form of a servant (see Philippians –8). Since no other mortal knows the time of Jesus’ return—that information is the Father’s alone (Matthew )—Jesus voluntarily restricted His knowledge on that point.
This did not happen in A. The Holy Spirit is not wrong here. This is yet future. Preterists quote Jesus’ words that “This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” The preterist thinks this removes all doubt.
A careful student would ask if the word genea can be translated in other ways. This short video proves Christ returned for his Second Coming, 70 AD.
This is the original doctrine of the saints. Book 43 - John - KJV Jesus Did Not Return In 70 A D - Duration. Why Did Jesus Return. As we have already stated, sometime later in Jesus’ ministry, He returned to Nazareth to tell the people that He was the Messiah.
They responded by attempting to murder Him. Later Jesus decided to return again. This study describes this second return. Jesus did not return to Nazareth because the city was important. by Stafford North, Oklahoma Christian University of Science & Arts Recently there has been a resurgence in the doctrine that Jesus’ second and final return was in 70 A.D File Size: KB.
Question: "What biblical prophecies were fulfilled in AD 70?" Answer: Much of importance happened in Israel in AD 70, and many link the events of that time to prophecies in the Bible.
In studying this subject, it’s good to remember that prophecy does not describe the future in the same way that history describes the past.
Our Lord, the appointed King, is now present, since OctoberA.D., according to the testimony of the prophets, to those who have ears to hear; and the formal inauguration of his kingly office dates from April A.D.: and the first work of the Kingdom, as shown by our Lord, in his parables and prophecy (the gathering of "his elect"), is.
ish nation in A.D. However, I do not think that we can use parousia to show this. The main reasons for believing that Jesus was involved in A.D. 70 are: 1 God gave Jesus authority over the affairs of mankind, as we see from MatthewEphesians and 1 Peter 2 The Roman armies that came against Israel.
This Jesus, who was received up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him going into heaven.” Jesus was taken up visibly into a cloud as the disciples watched; and, in like manner, as they beheld him going, he will return.
This is a huge problem for the A.D. 70 theorists. Since Jesus did not return in the first century, say the liberals, the New Testament writers were wrong.
What the liberals fail to see, however, is that these passages have either partial or full reference to Jesus’ judging Jerusalem in a.d. 70, and thus were literally fulfilled. No, Jesus did not return in A.D.
70, but he is coming again at the end of this age. Fourth, the coming of Christ to the believer at the moment of death is not the same as his literal Second Coming to the earth. Thank God, he does come for us as we walk through the dark valley of.
Goose Creek Gospel Meeting Bro. Ozan Matthew 24. Jesus had predicted the destruction of the temple in Luke and Matthew Other biblical prophecies may have also been fulfilled in AD 70, such as Luke –31, which seems to fit the Roman genocide of the Jewish people.(The Last Days According to Jesus, p.
26) "The coming of Christ in A.D was a coming in judgment on the Jewish nation, indicating the end of the Jewish age and the fulfillment of a day of the Lord.
Jesus really did come in judgment at this time, fulfilling his prophecy in the Olivet Discourse." (The Last Days According to Jesus, p. ).The Great Disappointment in the Millerite movement was the reaction that followed Baptist preacher William Miller's proclamations that Jesus Christ would return to the Earth bywhat he called the study of the Daniel 8 prophecy during the Second Great Awakening led him to the conclusion that Daniel's "cleansing of the sanctuary" was cleansing of the world from sin when Christ.
